Mary and Martha

Words and music by Susan Mack
Arranged by The Solo Committee

Verse 1
Two sisters there were that were friends of our Lord,
Two sisters who loved him so well.
When he came to their home they did both want to show
How his love had moved deep in their soul.

Now Martha she toiled and did work to prepare
Such a feast it would honor a king.
But Mary, she sat at the feet of our Lord
As he spoke of those spiritual things.

Chorus
Come sit at my feet precious woman  awhile.
Unburden yourself of all toil.
For the words that I speak are of man that is whole,
Renewing, restoring your soul.

Verse 2
Then Martha approached him and said to him, “Lord,
Bid my sister come help with the work.
You can see that it’s fair that she do her own part,
Her womanly labors not shirk.”

Then Jesus said unto her “Martha dear friend,
You are careful and troubled too much.
Your sister has chosen the part that is right,
The part none can take nor earth touch.”

Chorus
Come sit at my feet weary woman awhile.
Unburden yourself of all toil.
For the words that I speak are of man that is whole,
Renewing, restoring your soul.

Bridge
You are fighting for justice for fragments and parts.
You have asked me to judge and divide.
But to me there is only the wholeness of God,
The kingdom of heaven so wide.
Chorus
Come sit at my feet all God’s children awhile.
Unburden yourself of all toil.
For the words that I speak are of man that is whole,
Renewing, restoring your soul.
